Workforce Information

Demographics are particularly useful to managers in the workforce planning process.  These data are also used by Congressional staffers and others who have an interest in the size and makeup of the federal workforce, and by public and private organizations and individuals interested in the diversity of DOT for a wide variety of reasons.

BTS Releases North American Surface Trade Numbers for December: December 2011 Surface Trade with Canada and Mexico Rose 11.6 Percent from December

Trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American neighbors, Canada and Mexico, was 11.6 percent higher in December 2011 than in December 2010, totaling $74.2 billion according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Airlines Post Best December On-Time Record, Lowest December Cancellation Rate in 17 Years

The nation’s largest airlines posted an on-time arrival record last December of 84.4 percent, the highest on-time percentage for any December during the 17 years the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has collected comparable flight delay data. According to DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report, the carriers also had a 0.8 percent rate of canceled flights, the lowest December cancellation rate for the last 17 years.
