Preliminary Title: |
Nighttime Driver Performance On Two-Lane-Rural Roads. |
Subject and Purpose: |
Subject areas of inquiry included driver performance, roadway geometrics and delineation, pavement delineation, nighttime driving, pavement marking retroreflectivity, raised pavement marking retroreflectivity, roadway signage, instrumented roadway test vehicle, and roadway driving simulator. The purpose of this research was to study nighttime driver performance on two-lane-rural roads. Two separate experiments were conducted on the road and in a driving simulator. The results of the experiments will be used to help drivers negotiate curves on two-lane-rural roads at night thereby reducing fatalities and injuries on those roads. |
