Transformative Mediation 3 day course
The Transformative Mediation course focuses on the transformative (as opposed to a transactional) model of mediation. It takes an essentially social/communicative view of human conflict. The model defines the mediator’s goal as helping the parties to change their interaction from destructive to constructive as they explore specific disputed issues. Success is measured by party shifts toward strength, responsiveness, and constructive interaction.

The course uses a variety of learning vehicles, including lectures, videos, simulations and participatory role play exercises. Lectures are followed by opportunities to apply new concepts and skills to concrete real world situations. Performance is then critiqued by experienced neutrals, providing important insights and opportunities to enhance skills.

Leadership Competencies emphasized in this course include:
Conflict Management
Creativity/Innovation
Interpersonal Skills
Oral Communication
Problem Solving

Who Should Attend:
