Philadelphia International Airport Capacity Enhancement Program - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Philadelphia International Airport is a hub for one major domestic airline and serves other domestic and international airlines. The airport experiences recurring delays due to its volume of traffic, and the City of Philadelphia has been studying alternatives for reducing those delays. The purpose of this project is to provide sufficient capacity to accommodate current and future aviation demand in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Although the project sponsors have examined both “on-airport” and “off-airport” alternatives for increasing capacity, the three alternatives still under consideration all feature one or more new runways and related facilities.
