Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities

Overview

The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal sector employers nationwide with highly motivated postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs. This program is co-sponsored by the Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and the Department of Defense, with the support and participation of many other federal agencies.

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) for college students with disabilities offers a unique opportunity to hire highly-qualified postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities for either summer internship positions or for full-time permanent positions with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

Eligibility

  •     Must be a U.S. Citizen
  •     Must possess a 3.0 GPA or the equivalent
  •     Must have a Certification Letter from a State Vocational Rehabilitation Center or Veterans Administration
Open To:
Undergraduate/graduate-level students enrolled in an accredited academic institution
 
Compensation:
The salary ranges are based on educational background, prior work experience, and possible volunteer experience.
 
Periods:
Summer (June through August)
 
Selection Process:
Qualified Assessment performed by the local servicing Human Resource (HR) office. Applicant referrals are featured on the WRP CD Rom Resume Databank.
