Overview

There are several ways employers can recruit Veterans for job openings in the Transportation industry.

Contact your LOCAL Department of Labor American Job Center

Nearly 2,500 American Job Centers nationally offer employers assistance connecting with and recruiting veterans. Many Centers offer resources including specialized local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVERs) and Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) staff who work solely with veteran populations and can provide relevant veteran applicant referrals. To get started accessing these services, locate your local American Job Center.

Post your job openings on the following veteran’s job sites:

  • Employers can post currently offline jobs to the NLX at no-cost through your state job bank.

  • America's Heroes at Work includes a step-by-step toolkit for employers interested in developing or enhancing their veterans hiring initiative.

  • The National Resource Directory provides resources to connect wounded warriors, their families, and caregivers with those who support them.

  • The Veterans Employment Center has tools and resources for service members and veterans to help with their transition to civilian employment.

  • CareerOneStop ReEmployment Portal Resources for Veteran Employers
Employers can use the Veterans ReEmployment Portal on CareerOneStop to help them hire veterans! You probably already know the many reasons that veterans make excellent employees. Their military experience has provided them with education, training, values, leadership skills and teamwork experience to explore civilian careers and quickly identify civilian job openings related to their prior military experience. • Hiring Wounded Veterans
An excellent resource (.gov site) for hiring wounded veterans would be The Department of Labor's America's Heroes at Work website.  URL Also, a "Step by step" toolkit for employers.
