USDOT to Provide $500,000 In Supplemental Funding for Federal Bridge Inspections on Tribal Lands. This week, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced the Department will provide $500,000 to the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) to supplement ongoing bridge inspections on tribal lands. The BIA is responsible for safety inspections on 942 bridges on tribal lands across the country, as well as hundreds of others now subject to National Bridge Inventory standards under MAP-21. The funds, which come from the Federal Highway Administration’s Federal Lands Transportation Program (FLTP) and Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP), will help to fund inspections on a greater number of tribal bridges than ever before. United States, Bangladesh Reach Open-Skies Aviation Agreement. The United States and Bangladesh have successfully negotiated an Open-Skies aviation agreement, the first air services agreement between the two countries. Open Skies will allow the airlines of both countries to fly to, from, and beyond the other’s territory, without restriction on how often carriers fly, the kind of aircraft they use, and the prices that they charge. The agreement will make Bangladesh the 111th U.S. Open-Skies partner. Contact: Caitlin Harvey: (202) 366-4570.
