U.S. Transportation Secretary Mineta to Announce Grants to Los Angeles County
LOS ANGELES – On Saturday, Sept. 13th, U.S. Secretary of
Transportation Norman Y. Mineta will announce two grants to buy new compressed
natural gas buses and fund other major transportation improvements in Los
Angeles.
Secretary Mineta will announce a $39.8 million grant for the Metro Red Line
North Hollywood Extension and a $4.9 million grant for eight compressed natural
gas fueled buses. The grant for the North Hollywood Extension represents the
final installment of federal funding for the project under its Full Funding
Grant Agreement (FFGA). The subway extension was completed in June 2000.
