Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Begins Testing a New Safety
Oversight Process for Commercial Vehicles in Four States. The new process places
increased emphasis on safety data that is collected during roadside inspections
with the results triggering a series of escalating enforcement actions designed
to correct a motor carrier’s specific safety deficiency. The new safety
oversight process called Comprehensive Safety Analysis-2010 will be tested for
the next 30 months in Colorado, Georgia, Missouri and New Jersey, FMCSA
Administrator John H. Hill announced. The results of the four-state test will be
compared to FMCSA’s existing enforcement regime to determine the program’s
effectiveness in reducing commercial vehicle-related crash fatalities. Contact:
