NHTSA Posts Reports on Initiatives
Addressing Vehicle Compatibility,
Rollover Mitigation
As part of its effort to improve safety by examining four high priority safety concerns, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released reports on the first two to be addressed – vehicle compatibility and rollover mitigation. Both reports are now available on the agency's World Wide Web site: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/people/iptreports.html
The two other
priority issues being examined in this manner are impaired driving and safety
belt use.
The agency is
offering the public the opportunity to comment on each of the four documents,
the remaining two of which will be posted during the next few weeks on NHTSA’s
Web site and also on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s docket management
system at http://dms.dot.gov/.
The
docket numbers for each of the respective reports are Vehicle Compatibility,
NHTSA-2003-14623 (now available); Rollover Mitigation,
NHTSA-2003-14622 (now available); Safety Belt Use, NHTSA-2003-14620; and
Impaired Driving, NHTSA-2003-14621.
Written
comments may be submitted to the Docket Management System, U.S. Department of
Transportation, PL 401, 400 Seventh Street, S.W., Washington, DC. 20590-0001. Comments on vehicle compatibility should refer to the Docket
Number, NHTSA-2003-14623. Comments on rollover mitigation should refer to the
Docket Number, NHTSA-2003-14622.
Comments
also may be submitted to the docket electronically at http://dms.dot.gov/.
Click on “Help & Information” to obtain instructions for filing
comments electronically. In every case, the comments should refer to the docket
numbers. Comments should be received no later than 45 days from publication in
the Federal Register.
