Prince George’s County and Baltimore Small Business Days with Congresswoman Edwards and Congressman Cummings. On May 18 and 24, DOT’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), in conjunction with Congresswoman Donna Edwards and Congressman Elijah Cummings respectively, conducted two separate Small Business Days: Connecting Businesses with Opportunities. The purpose of these events was to connect small businesses with federal, state, and local government contracting opportunities, while educating small business owners on the resources available to help their businesses. Following opening remarks by OSDBU Director Brandon Neal, Congresswoman Edwards and Congressman Cummings, SBA Regional Directors, and MD DOT Secretary Beverly Swaim-Staley, guests were provided the opportunity to meet with representatives from the federal government, various state agencies, and small business resource centers. In addition to the informational exhibits, OSDBU presented workshops on Access to Capital and How to Contract with the Government. Over 350 small businesses participated in these events. OSDBU will hold a Small Business Day with Congresswoman Hirono in Honolulu, HI on June 3.
