VICE PRESIDENT GORE AND SECRETARY SLATER
ANNOUNCE AIRPORT GRANT FOR DENVER

Vice President Al Gore and Transportation Secretary Rodney E. Slater today announced the award of $30.1 million for improvements at Denver International Airport.

"Traffic at Denver International has helped fuel the region’s vibrant economy," said Vice President Gore. "President Clinton and I are committed to strengthening economic security and improving transportation safety. This investment is good for the economy of Colorado and our nation."

The grant will be used for construction of runways, taxiways, an apron and an automated ground transportation system, and acquisition of land for development.

The funds come from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.
